This coming Thursday is Trans Day of Visibility!
-- and we're celebrating at Nourish by donating a portion of all sales that day to our local Planned Parenthood chapter.
When we talk about our kitchen being a Safe Space, there are so many things we mean! But one important aspect is that hold space for people in all the ways they express themselves. That means using proper names and pronouns, not tolerating racism, homophobia or transphobia of any kind, and being soft and kind to all who work in the space.
We are lucky to have a number of rad organizations in town working to make Charlotte a safer city for our trans residents. We've raised funds and donated food a number of times to Time Out Youth, and a new organization called Transcend Charlotte just landed on our radars (in fact, they're holding a big ol' party this coming Wednesday complete with free food, all kinds of entertainment and a mini job faire! Check out the details here). But one of the first places people in transition go is Planned Parenthood, because they are well known, have lots of open hours, and are a trusted institution here in town.
So this TDOV, help us help Planned Parenthood by ordering your Nourish! And just to make this fundraiser extra sweet - we will also be treating the crew at PP to lunch on us on a date of their choosing.
Thanks for helping us make Charlotte a healthier, safer, more progressive place!
